Any way, I'm using the free version, and at first I had it set to advanced mode, but websites were getting blocked (I think, at least) by outpost way too often, so I switched to service mode and that kind of helped. Mainly webpages won't load correctly and I think it's because outpost is blocking them for DNS cache used instead. How do I fix that? and should I go back advance mode?
I have no idea what's up with n/a, I just noticed it was getting blocked and didn't think that was good.
Finaly, every once in a while I get a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, STOP: 0x000000D1 error. It mainly happened when I tried to connect here for help. I don't think it's resolved yet.
Well, yeah, those are my main issues, any help would be appreciated.
Before we go on, you say that you have version 4.0.1007.7323 (591). Can you tell me where you downloaded this from please?
As a point of information the DNS cache used instead means that the original request was blocked since the information was already in cache and there was no need for the traffic so it was blocked but in fact the process went ahead. This is normal and nothing to worry about.
Transit packets are those which originate on another pc and are not intended for yours. Unless you use your PC to route packets to other machines then they should be blocked.
Here info on n/a - http://www.agnitum.com/support/kb/article.php?id=1000141&lang=en
Allright, so cache used instead doesn't block anything? Any idea what's making my webpages screw up then?
gzip encoding handling may need a registry mod. see attached as well as THIS LINKY (http://outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19647&highlight=gzip+registry) which covers the 'why'...note that enabling gzip may reduce plugins filtering ability on gzipped sites.
(the two keys concerned are the 'enablegzipencoding' and 'fixservererrorsonsend' which default to '0' (zero) and can be changed to '1'. if that does not help, i'd switch them back to '0'...)
